Polycor Inside and Out

Up the granite entry steps, to serving the family meal prepared on marble countertops, to relaxing together at dusk around the outdoor fire pit (or in front of the fireplace)—Polycor stone transforms an ordinary place to live into a cherished home—inside and out.

Even before the quarantine forced most of us to spend most of our time at home, residential design/build projects were increasingly refocused on our homes as a refuge and oasis. And it’s not simply a short-lived trend. Our need to build aesthetic connections between our interior and exterior spaces reflects a growing desire to engage with nature as an essential, comforting living space—not just a wild backdrop.

So it’s no surprise that more people are choosing natural stone for their projects. After all, it's literally the foundation for our shared home—the earth. Anyone who has done research on natural stone products can list some convincing qualities that make it a material of choice: it’s clean, it’s sustainable, it’s beautiful, it’s durable (our most lasting monuments are built with natural stone), it’s available in a variety of colors and can be used in an ever-growing number of projects indoors and out.

It’s popularity continues to grow and more design/build professionals are recommending natural stone for different applications of a home improvement project. Landscapers are recommending stone slabs for kitchen countertops and interior designers are including stone solutions to tie outdoor living to inside luxury. The happy result is that more homeowners are enjoying the multiple benefits it has to offer and more professionals are enjoying working on bigger, more integrated projects with their clients.

A great example is a recent New England project where a historic home needed a complete makeover and addition. The homeowner knew she wanted materials and products that were locally sourced and honored the enduring, timeless quality of the 1880's home and neighborhood.

Polycor stone was her answer, inside and outside. Woodbury Gray granite pavers and steps blend with native field stone outcrops in the yard, Georgia Marble - White Cherokee™ countertops complement the rustic modern kitchen, and Saint Henry Black™ granite  graces the bathrooms.

Georgia Marble - White Cherokee™ keeps the historic charm alive in this 1885 New England Home. The stone has been used extensively in the U.S. for centuries.

The final result strikes the perfect balance between old and new, inside and out, bringing its livability into the current era, while also giving a nice nod to all it has been for the families who have lived there previously.

At Polycor, every single project is an opportunity for us to introduce a new material, a new finish, a new application to someone who will fall in love with natural stone. It’s a privilege we take seriously.
